Depends on age. New plastic holds up to 16–24 kg per fixing point. Plastic older than 5–7 years becomes brittle — especially on south- and west-facing windows with direct sun. For blackout, velvet, or double-layer curtains, an aluminium profile is the better choice: it takes twice the load and won't crack.

A standard nylon wall plug won't hold heavy curtains in drywall — it's simply the wrong fixing. You need a molly bolt, a toggle anchor, or a bolt tied back to the metal stud. If the holes are already stripped, we shift the fixing point 3–5 cm across and start fresh.

Nine times out of ten it's the runners. They clog with dust or dry out over time. We clean or replace the rollers without taking the rail down — and the curtains glide smoothly again. If the track itself is bent from impact, we'll tell you honestly; sometimes replacing the whole profile is the cheaper fix.
